Troubles in Utah②
Have you ever been sued by someone?
It's not so common for Japanese people.
As you know, it's a litigious society in the US.
The case of hot caffee in MacDonald's is very famous.
Yes. I was sued in the US too.
I was working in the Chinese restaurant which was owned by Chinese American. However, the restaurant was very duty.
The service and attitude were terrible. Of course, there is no customer and no business.
Therefore, I tried to quit with my co-worker after geting payment, but the manager wanted to give us the coupons which can be used at the restaurant.
At the time, I could speak enough English to complain, so I argued with the manager. Then somehow he locked us in the restaurant, and police officers came.
And then, they told us that he wanted to bring us to the court because of trespassing.
Ugh... I didn't undetstand. The police officers were on our side and understood us.
Anyways, we were officially sued.
Luckily, the court doesn't seriously take this kind of shit cases,
so we just explained the situation in the court, and the indictment was canceled.
However, we gave up the payment and coupons and never got close to the restraunt again.
As a result, we traped by their strategy.
I learned cultural deferences between the US and Japan from this happening.
Please be careful about unexpectable happenings in other countries!
